Why Solar flood lights?

Solar powered motion activated LED floodlights are fast becoming the norm in garden and other outdoor environment lighting. These lights are cheap, economical, easy to use and don't need clumpy wires to connect them to electricity outlet and the best part is that they don't use electricity at all or rather you don't need to supply it and the light powers itself from that solar panel. Light Intensity -  LED diodes are not powerful and you need a lot of them to cover a wider area but that also increases the risk of heat damage so most LED powered flood light are made with low amount of diodes and don't produce very intense light. This can be a issue if you want to illuminate a wide area but you can always use multiple light sources!

Light Spread -  LED diodes usually have a very narrow span and they shine light only in front of them but with things like light spread increasing flood light covers manufacturers have managed to get around this problem.

They need a full day of sunlight to recharge - because usually those solar powers are quite small they need to be in a direct sunlight to generate the maximum amount of electricity and with that maximum output they need almost full day of sun to fully recharge completely drained batteries. This also means that if you get a cloudy day you won't fully recharge those batteries and you will not be able to produce light as long as the total battery capacity is.  

Light build quality problems - These solar LED flood lights are usually made by companies that are not that experienced with consumer products and because there are so many fragile and delicate parts some light will not work properly after only a few month use. But this problem can be overcome by purchasing only good quality lights from reputable sellers.

These are all the major disadvantages and they are not nearly as bad as those advantages are good so in my mind if you have the option to choose from a solar powered flood light or a regular one then don't hesitate and buy the solar one.
